The Iowa-Missouri Conference Education program had three teachers retire at the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
Kayla Booth taught for 30 years starting at the Pittsburg, Kansas Seventh-day Adventist School in the Kansas-Nebraska conference and finishing her teaching career at the Maranatha SDA School at Moberly, Missouri in the Iowa-Missouri Conference. She and her husband Richard – who retired in 2019 – serviced for a total of 32 years at the Maranatha SDA School in Moberly, Missouri. Kayla plans to remain in Moberly, Missouri where she and her husband garden and enjoy their rural setting.
Mike Helm taught for 30 years starting at the Sandia View Academy in the Texico Conference, followed by teaching assignments in the Southeastern California Conference, the Oklahoma Conference, the Rocky Mountain Conference and finishing his teaching career at the College Park Christian Academy at Columbia, Missouri in the Iowa-Missouri Conference. Mike spent 13 years of his career at the College Park Christian Academy on two different occasions. Mike and his wife Beverly are moving back to their beloved Colorado and close to family.
Judi Thompson taught for 15 years starting her teaching career in New Zealand, teaching in the Alaska Conference, and spending the last six years in the Iowa-Missouri Conference. Her last teaching assignment was to reopen the Prescott SDA School in St. Joseph, Missouri which had closed after nearly 100 years of operation. Judi and her husband Gavin are returning to New Zealand to be closer to family and friends.
We wish each of the retirees well and are very grateful for their service as part of the Iowa-Missouri Conference Education team.
