The 2019-20 school year is now in full swing, and Summit View Adventist Elementary School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri chose to start the year with family worship and breakfast.
Before classes started on August 30, students, parents and teachers gathered for biscuits and gravy, fruit, and juice. Special guest Kent Dunwoody, pastor of Kansas City Central Church, spoke about how the youth are leaders today, not tomorrow. He reminded us of King Josiah, who started his ministry at only 12 years old. Even at his young age, Josiah brought the people of Israel back to God.
Pastor Dunwoody shared several stories of how young people are changing the world today in great ways, but the message he had for our young people was much simpler. He encouraged them to change their world by sharing God’s love in the church, at the school, in their neighborhoods and with everyone with whom they come in contact. He assured them that God will bless their efforts.
Students closed the worship by leading everyone in songs of praise to our Savior.
