The St. Louis Adventist Community Services ministry recently held a summertime barbecue fundraiser at their facility in North County. For just $5.00, people could buy a barbecue sandwich, a couple of sides, a dessert and a drink. There were also $2.00 grab bags.

The weather held for an early June day, and the event drew many new faces as well as others who had shopped for used clothing bargains in the past.

“Some of the community members shop daily at our center just to have someone to socialize with,” said Nancy Cowin, volunteer at the center and member of the West County Church in Chesterfield. “The barbecue shows our good will in the community.”

St. Louis ACS is planning another summer barbecue to raise additional funds and increase awareness in the community that the center is there to serve them.
