Two classes from Hillcrest SDA School recently visited Cahokia Mounds in Collinsville, Illinois.

The 2,200-acre national landmark is the largest archaeological site north of Mexico and houses the remnants of an ancient civilization known as the Mississippians. Cahokia was one of the greatest cities of the world, at one time larger than London, England. The Mississippians were accomplished builders who erected a wide variety of structures from practical homes for everyday living to monumental public works that have maintained their grandeur for centuries.

Students in Mrs. Abrahamson’s and Mrs. Morris’ class enjoyed hiking around and climbing the mounds while learning more about this Native American culture.
