I want to share a testimony of how God blessed me during the recent Your Best Pathway to Health event in Fort Worth, Texas.
After I felt impressed to sign up as a volunteer, Satan tried to discourage me by placing roadblocks in the way. A situation happened at work that forced me to quit my job, and it didn’t appear I would have the funds to go. But I kept claiming His promises. I was led to verses like Philippians 4:19, which says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus,” and Philippians 4:13, which says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” I even found encouragement in a handout I received at the last Iowa-Missouri camp meeting, which talks about receiving blessings from God when we faithfully return our tithes and offerings. I trusted that God would open doors, if it was His will that I go.
I had booked a hotel room, hoping that my son and daughter-in-law would volunteer with me, but things did not work out for them to come. I started looking for roommates to share hotel expenses, but each time I had someone lined up it seemed there was some reason it wouldn’t work out. I had a couple opportunities to stay somewhere else, but I really felt God wanted me to stay at that specific hotel.
During breakfast at the hotel one morning, I met three other volunteers. We struck up a conversation about the event, and one of them brought up the vision services. I mentioned that my glasses had been broken some time ago and that I’m not supposed to drive without them. After breakfast I was invited to their room to continue talking, and when we got there one of the ladies told me about how she had sent a bunch of glasses to the event ahead of time and that one pair had been left out. She had been praying about what to do with them and asked me to try them on. They were just the right prescription! We immediately stopped to thank God for His goodness and great blessings. With rejoicing we went to work, ready to hear more testimonies of how God would bless others through the week.
God promises if we call upon Him He will answer. He will show us great and mighty things. “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (Matthew 7:7, 8). May we never forget to ask. God is waiting to answer our prayers. Do not give up! We have not, because we do not ask, and persist in asking. “…whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:23, 24). May we be filled with much joy today, and always, because we are doing God’s biddings. His biddings are our enablings.
