September 29 was a “high Sabbath” at the Rolla Church, as we celebrated the baptisms of Breyen and Lancelot Carr.

Breyen is only in the 1st grade but had been asking to be baptized for some time. When an appeal for baptism was made a few months ago, he responded by raising his hand. He began to do children’s Bible studies, and has been developing a deeper understanding of what it means to have a relationship with Jesus.

Lancelot, a 4th grader, had also expressed a desire to be baptized around the same time. In his studies, he has demonstrated a commitment to follow Jesus, and an enthusiasm to be actively involved in serving at home, school, and church. Two of his favorite aspects of the Rolla Church are singing and working on memorizing his memory text for Sabbath school.

Breyen and Lancelot were joined in the baptismal pool by their grandfather, David Springer, who has had an influential role in each of their spiritual journeys. Let’s continue to keep these two young men in our prayers and remember the words of Jesus in Mark 10:14: “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.”
